Dental Crowns and Dental Bridges
Dental Crowns
A dental crown is used to cover the outer surface or "cap" of a damaged tooth. A dental crown can also be used to cosmetically improve the look, contour or alignment of teeth. A crown is also placed on implants when replacing missing teeth.
Porcelain crowns can be matched to the colour of your natural teeth.
Dental crowns can be used in a number of situations including:
- To improve the aesthetic appearance of a tooth
- Replacing a large filling on a rotten tooth
- To fix to a dental implant
- Protect a weak tooth from breaking and fracturing
- To form part of a dental bridge
Dental Bridges
We may recommend a dental bridge if you are missing one or more teeth. Dental bridges span the space where the teeth are missing. Bridges are usually fixed to the natural teeth on either side of the empty space, which serve as anchors for the bridge. An alternative to bridges for the replacement of missing teeth are dental implants.
